Symptoms of head injury and concussion

Concussion, which is medically known as a mild traumatic brain injury, can affect each person differently. The affected person may not recognise the issues they’re having or their symptoms may be overlooked by healthcare providers, their lawyers, family members or even themselves.

The symptoms you are suffering from may mean you are struggling to cope with the simplest of tasks. It can be difficult to function after a head injury and could lead to having difficulty at work or even possibly losing your job. If you have dependents relying on you to financially support them, it can be a worry that you may lose your home.

That’s where we come in. We listen and acknowledge the pain and difficulties you or your loved ones are experiencing, and we find a solution for you. Most people recover from a concussion quickly, but we know (which is backed up by more recent scientific research and understanding) that a significant minority do not. For those, a concussion is anything but ‘mild’. Speak to specialists that understand this and have the experience to help you and your family.

Specialist legal help

As the only UK firm to specialise exclusively in brain and head injuries, we provide expert, specialist advice from lawyers with 20+ years of experience. Importantly we have a specific sub-speciality in concussion and head injuries.

Many believe concussions to be mild, with a quick recovery and that brain scans can rule out any injury. We know this is not the case, and a significant enough minority do not recover quickly. Speak to lawyers that specialise in this area. Each of our lawyers has low individual caseloads, so they can concentrate on your case fully, and you can get the personal service that you need. This is all we do – nothing else!

Rehabilitation and support

In addition to our specialist legal service, we also offer our unique Rehabilitation and Support Service that focuses on what you need to help you with your recovery. Accessing specialist rehabilitation for concussions in the UK can be extremely difficult. We understand this and how important it is to access specialist early rehabilitation, support and treatment.

We arrange and can pay for early treatment and support through our unique Rehabilitation and Support Service. This service focuses on offering bespoke packages of rehabilitation, support and care, along with friendly and highly professional advice, information and step-by-step guidance.

Many firms say they support rehabilitation, but this just means they will try to obtain an interim payment, or agreement to fund the rehabilitation, from the Defendant’s insurance company. Interim payments can take a long time whilst the Defendant’s insurance company investigates who is to blame for the accident, or it may not be received at all. Coulthursts are proud to be unique; we assess your claim and can arrange to pay for early rehabilitation for many of our clients, meaning you do not have to wait for the insurer to fund the treatment that you need.

Financial advice

We will fight to ensure that you receive the best compensation and seek interim payments to help you whilst your claim is ongoing. Working with us, you’ll have access to financial advice and support to ease the pressure.

Emotional & family support

It’s an incredibly stressful, confusing and worrying time for you. So, we’ve built our service around what you and your family need. We go far beyond the traditional legal model, we are your specialist lawyers fighting for you, but we are also there, whether it be a supportive ear or holding your hand through this journey following your injury.

No win, no fee service

Even though we are specialists, we are committed to offering a no-win, no-fee service. This firm was set up to represent and help people like you and your family. Speak to us and let us explain how this works, take away risk, and explain how this will give you the reassurance you need.

Our process

We understand that contacting solicitors can feel daunting and may be something you wish to put off until later.

We are here to help, and this is our commitment to you; contact with us will be completely confidential – at no commitment or pressure to proceed, and will be at no cost.   This is to give you all the reassurance you need to feel comfortable taking this next step.

We know from our experience that different people feel differently about what level of contact or communication they feel comfortable with. This is entirely normal, and we understand this.

Some are ready and want to meet with a solicitor. In this instance, we will come to see you. This can be at your home, hospital or at a meeting office near you. Whereas some may be happy to speak to a solicitor on the phone or by video call – we will be happy to arrange this.

For others, this may feel too much and just want to test the waters a little and ask a few questions at this stage. Or you may only have questions and not want to discuss a legal case. This is no problem, again we want to make this as easy as possible. You can email us or use our contact form.

Alternatively, use the ‘live chat’ where you can ask questions without giving any of your details. Do not worry, you get through to a live person at our firm – no bots or people off-site somewhere that do not work for us. For this reason, live chat only works during office hours, although you can leave a message for us to contact you when we are back in the office.

Whilst we have put a short process guide below for the initial steps, you will see that this is all bespoke and built around you as you are in control.

Step 1

Contact our friendly team with what you need help with. As above, we can be contacted online or through a phone call – whatever you are comfortable with. We will have an initial discussion about your case or answer the questions that you have. There is no commitment to proceed, and it won’t cost you anything.

Step 2

We’ll quickly respond back to you by the means that you want (phone or online). If you call us, we can speak with you there and then, or you can arrange another time for one of our specialist lawyers to speak with you. We will respond back in the way that you feel most comfortable, in-person, video call, by phone or online. If you would like to arrange a face-to-face meeting, we will be more than happy to arrange this and meet with you in your home, in a meeting office close to you or wherever else you feel most comfortable.

Step 3

If you are happy to proceed and have a  more in-depth discussion with you and your family, this can be done by a further phone call, video call or a face-to-face meeting. This can be at your home, a meeting office close to you or wherever you feel comfortable.

Step 4

After talking to you (and your loved ones),  if you are happy to proceed, we can start to investigate your case, and look at how we can offer support. Do you feel you would like more meetings, with you or others close to you? No problem, we are happy to arrange this. You are in control, this is about moving forwards in a way you feel most comfortable.

Let Coulthursts, the head injury experts help you. Contact our friendly team below for free advice. Rest assured, any call and advice will be confidential and at no cost or obligation to proceed.

You deserve to get the best chance at the best recovery, compensation and best quality of life.
