Philip Coulthurst
Philip Coulthurst is our Managing Director and Co-founder, with a personal and professional mission to transform the legal support and rehabilitation services available to individuals and families affected by life changing brain injuries.
Philip has over 25 years of experience as a personal injury solicitor and specialises exclusively in brain injury compensation claims. Philip’s expertise spans a wide range of serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI’s), skull fractures, and subarachnoid haemorrhages.
Philip is a member of the Law Society, the Association of personal injury Lawyers (APIL) and a Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulated solicitor. He is also a graduate of Harvard Law School’s Accelerated Leadership Programme. Philip is a member of the British Neuroscience Association and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies, reflecting his deep interest in emerging neuroscience research.
Philip delivers training and lectures on brain injuries, covering topics such as traumatic brain injury, concussion, neuroscience, epidemiology, socioeconomics, and the urgent need for better diagnosis and care pathways. He is a national speaker on mild traumatic brain injury (Mtbi), including the challenges of outcome prediction and the latest developments in neuroimaging, aiming to make the ‘invisible’ visible.
Recognised across the UK for his leadership in complex brain injury cases, Philip is frequently asked to take over cases where the extent of injury has been misunderstood, underestimated, or missed entirely. His reputation for clarity, advocacy, and results has earned him widespread professional recommendations.
Philip has a personal mission to campaign for all those families suffering due to undiagnosed brain injuries and the need for improved advanced brain scanning and biomarkers to improve accurate diagnosis.
