Coulthursts has got 2025 underway by recruiting two more widely experienced legal experts to create its biggest team of brain injury legal experts to date and further cement its position as the UK’s only law firm completely dedicated to brain injury cases.
The firm’s new additions are lawyer Simon Roberts and solicitor Oliver Brumby who together have carried out more than half a century of legal work, most of it in representing personal injury clients.
The move follows the company’s announcement at the end of last year that it will also be teaming up with Olympic double gold medallist rower, James Cracknell OBE, himself affected by a serious head injury, to raise awareness of the company’s unique services.
“James will be acting for us in an ambassadorial role to emphasise our unique approach to helping brain injury clients rebuild their lives and this further expansion of our legal team will greatly enhance our capabilities,” said MD Philip Coulthurst.
“Both Simon and Oliver have proven ability and experience in our specialist field and share our values of going that extra mile to ensure that our clients are given every chance of receiving fair and generous recompense for the misfortune that has so badly disrupted their lives.”
Simon has been practising law for nearly 35 years, predominantly supporting personal injury clients with injuries including traumatic brain injury (TBI), and has brought claims involving brain injuries to successful conclusion, including successful claims settled in excess of £10 million.
He also has experience of dealing with such complex issues as payment settlements and the Court of Protection, while in the Court of Appeal he experienced success on an important issue about the recoverability of costs for lawyers to attend multi-disciplinary team meetings.
Oliver is a solicitor, has over 20 years of experience and specialises in personal injury. He has a proven track record of success at trial in disputed cases and is committed to reaching a resolution which puts his clients’ wellbeing and rehabilitation and treatment needs at the heart of litigation. He has developed a deep understanding of the medical and legal aspects of brain injuries and has joined Coulthursts to focus on this aspect.
